You will find many articles on the net claiming that you can retrieve Instagram direct messages from the inbox of your linked Facebook   Instagram message recovery tool  account. This appears to have been a convenient way to view previously deleted chats, but sadly that’s no longer possible.

With the latest Facebook update, I couldn’t find any way to view deleted Instagram messages on my linked Facebook account as it also deletes direct messages from my Facebook inbox. So this method no longer works.
